The wrong lubricant does more harm than none at all. Pick a bottle that fights your toy’s material and you will watch it turn sticky, swell or crack within weeks. The bottle you reach for is a bigger deal than the brand on the front.
Water-based is the safe default
Water-based lubricant is the type we suggest first. It plays nicely with every material we sell — silicone, TPE and the hard ABS casings — it rinses off with plain water, and it never stains. The trade-off is that it dries, so you reapply now and then. For a first bottle, that is a small price to pay for not wrecking a toy.
- Safe on silicone, TPE and ABS — no material it degrades.
- Washes off with water, no residue or stain left behind.
- Needs a top-up during longer sessions as it dries.
- The easiest type to find across the UAE.
Silicone-based lasts longer — just not on silicone toys
Silicone lubricant stays slick far longer and shrugs off water, which makes it the pick for the bath or shower. The catch is blunt: it slowly eats silicone toys. Use it on a TPE or ABS toy and you are fine; use it on a silicone one and the surface breaks down.
A silicone-sleeve toy — pair it with water-based lubricant only, because silicone-based lube can damage the sleeve (its care notes say the same).
Oil-based: leave it for massage, not toys
Oil-based lubricant is the longest-lasting of the three and feels slick, but it is the wrong call for toys. It degrades latex and soft toy materials, it is a pain to wash off, and it can stain fabric. Keep it for skin-on-skin, not for anything that goes near a toy.
Match the bottle to the material
When in doubt, the material tells you the answer. Our toys come down to three materials — body-safe silicone, a soft TPE blend, or hard ABS casings — and each one points to a clear winner.
| Toy material | Best lubricant | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Body-safe silicone | Water-based (silicone-based only if the toy is not silicone) | Silicone-based on silicone toys |
| TPE / soft blend | Water-based only | Silicone-based and oil-based |
| ABS & hard casings | Water-based or silicone-based | Oil-based |
A manual TPE onahole — water-based lubricant keeps the material in good shape; silicone and oil-based lubes degrade TPE over time.
How much to use, and when to reapply
A little goes further than people expect. Start with a small amount on the toy and on yourself, then add more if needed — you can always top up, you cannot un-pour. Reapply the moment the glide feels draggy rather than smooth.
- 1 Squeeze a small drop onto the toy and a little on yourself.
- 2 Add more in thin layers instead of one heavy dollop.
- 3 Reapply as soon as the feel turns dry, not after.
- 4 Cap the bottle tight and keep it somewhere cool and dry.
Flavoured and warming lubes
Two extras turn up on the shelf and are worth a word. Flavoured lubricant is meant for skin and oral play, not for making a toy taste of anything — check it is still water-based before you pair it with a toy. Warming and cooling lubes add a tingle through gentle ingredients; try a dab on your hand first, because the sensation lands differently on different skin, and skip them if your skin is easily irritated.
Buying lubricant in the UAE
If you are in Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain or Al Ain, the privacy rules are the same as everywhere else: the parcel lands in a plain, unbranded box, usually within one to five days, and you pay the courier in cash when it arrives — so nothing about the order reaches a bank statement. Orders over AED 150 ship free.
