Your first vibrator does not need to be the perfect one — it needs to be the one you will actually reach for. Most of that comes down to four choices: where you want the stimulation, what the toy is made of, how loud it is, and how easy it is to hide away. Get those right and the rest takes care of itself.
1. Where do you want the stimulation?
Decide this first and you have already ruled out most of the shop. External-only toys stay outside the body; internal ones go inside; combined designs do both at once.
- External-only (rose, bullet, air-pulse): smallest, quietest, and least intimidating to start with.
- Combined (rabbit): an internal shaft plus an external arm working together. More versatile, more buttons to learn.
- Thrusting: adds motion, not just vibration. Usually the biggest and the loudest of the three.
A compact external-only design — small enough to tuck away, quiet, and fully waterproof. The safest first purchase for most people.
2. Material is the thing that matters most
Material decides two things at once: how the toy feels, and how long it lasts. It also sets how much cleaning you are signing up for, which is easy to underestimate on a first buy.
Bullet and wand are the two shapes most people meet first, and the difference between them is more than size — here they are side by side
- Body-safe silicone: non-porous, soft, and the easiest to sanitise. The forgiving choice for a first toy.
- ABS plastic: firm and durable, used for casings, handles and control bodies.
- TPE: very soft and skin-like, but porous. It needs thorough drying after every wash and occasional powdering to stay fresh.
The one rule that covers every toy
Water-based lubricant only. Silicone and oil-based formulas slowly break down both silicone and TPE, and that shortens the toy’s life considerably.
3. Noise, waterproofing and charging
If you share a wall, a corridor, or a villa, noise is not a detail — it decides whether the toy gets used or sits in a drawer. Waterproofing matters for the same reason: a toy you can rinse under a tap is a toy you will actually keep clean.
| Feature | Why it matters | What to look for | One that fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Noise | Decides whether you can use it discreetly | Under 60 dB in shared homes | Rabbit Ear — 60 dB |
| Waterproofing | Makes cleaning quick; bath or shower safe | IPX7 rating | Red Lips Rose — IPX7 |
| Charging | Affects how often it is out of action | USB or magnetic rechargeable | Magnetic charging |
| Modes | More modes means more chance one suits you | At least 5 patterns | Red Lips Rabbit |
Two combined-stimulation options if you want internal and external together.
4. Size, storage and discretion
Small toys are easier to hide and quicker to clean. Bigger thrusters do more, but need a real storage spot and take longer to dry. Not sure? Start small — you can always add a second, more specialised toy later.
A larger option with a stable hands-free base, for when you already know you want internal stimulation with motion.
Looking after your first toy
The routine never changes: wash before and after use with warm water and a toy cleanser, dry it completely, and store it somewhere cool and dust-free. Drying is the step people skip, and it is the one that causes most problems with soft materials.
We go into material-by-material detail, including how to dry and store TPE properly.

For most people here, the worry is privacy rather than the product. Nothing on the box gives the contents away, it arrives within a few days to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and every other emirate, and you pay the courier in cash — so nothing shows up on a card statement. The short version
- Decide where you want the stimulation first — external, internal or both. That one answer rules out most of the shop.
- Material decides comfort, lifespan and how much cleaning you sign up for. Water-based lubricant is the only safe choice on silicone and TPE.
- Noise and waterproofing decide whether the toy actually gets used, especially in a shared home.
- Start small. A smaller toy is quicker to clean and easier to store, and you can add a second one later.
